I have been using this since launch and I paid near retail. Great headset imo. I also have the leather like pads I got separately and they improve the sound and block outside noise better.
Imagine the poor guy twho missed BF that's gonna pay 300 dollars for it.
This version hasn't been on sale for a long time now besides the last time office Depot had them for this price. Least that I've scene. I been waiting for a sale. This is a sale just not enough considering how long it's been out. I hear it's a great headset though.
Thankfully with this headset you never have to charge it with a cable. I have it and haven't ever physically plugged it in (except for updates) since it comes with a spare battery you can swap in when the battery in it dies. Not disagreeing that the micro usb format needs to die already, just that it's not as needed on this headset than it is on others.

Can't tell if that's sarcasm haha, but yeah, basically the transmitter has a battery charging slot and it includes two batteries. When the one in the headset is dying you pop off the magnetic side panel on the headset and just swap the batteries. See attached images from ign.[ign.com] I got the headset from a PM last year and like it.
