Clearly you have no idea what you're talking about and have never used one of these.

For one, it saves a ton of water that essentially does nothing but act as a heat transfer medium when boiling. In most units, it's under 4oz versus at least 1qt.

It automatically shuts off when your eggs are done, preventing gross over-boiled eggs and scorched pans.

There's no need to wait to bring the eggs up to near room temp to avoid cracking, like you have to do when they get too cold.

Also, it cooks a hell of a lot more eggs than your typical sauce pan (and again, using a bigger pot requires more water).

It's a convenience gadget, similarly to how the microwave used to be for convenience only.
This is much easier than stovetop
Being in a wheelchair cooking on the stove is somewhat more difficult. With this I can place it on a lower surface and cook more safely than having to handle a pan of boiling water that I cant see the top of. Maybe not a common issue but lifes not black and white.

If you already have an instant pot, cook them there. It works great.

If you want something smaller and/or in white, the 7 egg cooker in white is a little cheaper:

How to boil eggs?

- put eggs in a pot
- fill pot with water
- put pot on the stove

Done and done. Don't buy random sh*t you don't need.
This is much easier than stovetop

What's the air fryer way? Can't they make one of these things without so much plastic?

Easier? The thing has 15 pieces to clean. Plus if you think boiling eggs is difficult then you shouldn't own a stove.
Keep in mind, there's some people in this world nowadays who don't even know how to cook pasta 😂🤣.

Or, if you want to cook a metric ton of eggs (for your pets or to recycle old eggs for chickens), fill a glass mixing bowl (say 4q) with the contents of however many dozen you want to use (4 dozen?) Whisk and season (if for humans) And put in the microwave on high for 10+ minutes (for chickens and dogs when you have chickens, make them very well done so they don't go after the eggs you want.) If you want to store them long-term, allow to cool saran wrap individual serving sizes and chuck it in a freezer bag in your deep freeze (1+ years) or freezer (3+ months).

I'm more of a (dry) fried egg guy at much smaller quantities 🤷

The toaster oven/air fryer ones are often metal but also larger.

the thing about boiling eggs in my experience is that once they're done you need to get them cold fast so they don't turn gross and green inside so I always dump cold water and ice on them at the end of the 10 min boil (I like mine softer inside) so they cool down super fast, I suspect this machine can't do that and you'll get gross looking yolks in your eggs
