Care to elaborate? What are you updating which requires the specific OEM cable?

Amazon renewed for $134 if you don't mind that route.
< ! -- edit: note to past self: you do mind as people have been buying new ones only to pull the dongle (Logitech doesn't sell dongles) and then send it back to Amazon.. only for Amazon to slap a 'renewed' sticker on it and place it for sale -->

It has a certain design to it that doesn't allow any other cable to be inserted, I tried with two different types of Logitech pro mouse cables.

There are internal updates as well as firmware, unlike some other companies they actually update their products...

I didn't like this keyboard after trying it because they don't illuminate the symbols under the number keys and that to me was a deal breaker. The unreplaceable key caps are also cheap for a premium priced product.

I'm no expert, but I would say if you are going to spend this much on a keyboard I highly recommend a more modular board that will let you replace the switches and keycaps. I've been using the Glorious GMMK for a couple years now and it's been great. Had one switch fail on me and had it replaced and running again in 5 minutes. With a non-modular keyboard you'd be throwing it away in those circumstances, unless you wanted to do some soldering and customizing.

Logitech's "gaming" brand of keyboards ALWAYS break within a year or two. Never buying their overpriced keyboards again. Also, their G Hub software doesn't even allow modifying (binding macros or assigning different keystrokes) regular keys. You can only modify F or G keys.

I sent two Amazon renewed versions of this board back just last week. Both were shipped "renewed" and failed to include the Logitech wireless USB dongle. If you look at the renewed reviews, Logitech does not sell/offer standalone replacements of the USB dongle, so people are just ordering new boards from Amazon, keeping the dongle as their own personal replacement, and submitting a free return back to Amazon (which they turn around and sell as renewed).

Generally speaking, I don't have problems with Amazon Warehouse/renewed, but I would most definitely NOT recommend trying to save the 30 or so dollars to get this renewed. Both my original order failed to have the dongle along with the replacement order they sent to "fix" the issue.

Love this keyboard. I have had mine now for about 2 years and have had no issues at all with it.

I guess if you like touch typing, then this is a must-have. For those who would like to replace worn keycaps, then you should know the reddit community seems to think the *Kailh chocolate keycaps* do not fit. *= the aftermarket keycaps are limited to Logitech-manufactured. https://www.reddit.com/r/Logitech...urce=share
