Includes four interchangeable tips for ease in moving from one project to the next

I have bought a pair of exchangeable head pliers before and hate them. No good way to keep track of the accessories. I think I'd rather just have multiple pliers. Ymmv?

I hate to be that guy, but why would these Chinese stamped steel Irwins be any better than this $5 Chinese stamped steel set?

https://www.harborfreight.com/sna...63845.html

Edit: It looks like the Irwins are made in Taiwan, so maybe they're higher quality stamped steel.

I bought mine two weeks ago and used it to fix power tools includes rotary hammer, sawzall and more. It's not a precise tool, the spring is too weak but works ok, comparable to my husky set. I am happy with it.
Wouldn't recommend to use it on auto repair. It's not strong enough.

Can it do both internal C ring (compressing) and external C ring (expanding)?

WAY better quality vs Harbor Freight (I have both and the HF ones are junk). The Irwins are good light duty snap ring pliers. Fixed my dryer with them.

I bought these a few months back to do some repairs on a washing machine and carbonator pump rebuild, and like most cheap interchangeable tip snap ring pliers, they are very fiddly, not very precise, don't have strong enough springs to keep the tips from wobbling around, and don't have the tips angled correctly to securely grip a stronger snap ring during extraction. I ended up returning them and biting the bullet to spend 3x more on a nice pair of fixed tip Knipex.

Don't get me wrong: they aren't bad for the money, and compare favorably to similarly priced interchangeable tip, light duty pliers, but can make a 30s job much longer and more frustrating that it needs to be. They are probably perfectly adequate for light duty snap rings, but you do get what you pay for. FWIW, I fiddled around for 20+ minutes trying to remove an internal snap ring with these, but popped it out on the first try with the Knipex. I'm by no means a tool snob (especially for something that I'm probably only going to use a handful of times a year), but for me, the better pliers were well worth the extra money. YMMV

Edit:
For those of you curious, this [amazon.com] is the Knipex pliers set I ended up purchasing. Yes, they're 3-4x the price, but that's only $30 more than the Irwin version in this deal; a small price to pay if you need something higher quality and more robust. (When I purchased both, the Irwins were more expensive, and the Knipex were cheaper than they are now.) Aside from the better build quality and inherent increased stability over designs with interchangeable tips, the more extreme angle on the tips means it will securely hold the snap ring even after compressing/expanding the snap ring: This [media-amazon.com] vs. this [media-amazon.com].

Yes. This set comes with four tips: a straight and right angle internal, and straight and right angle external. With four tip sets, this set does have a lot of options, but read my previous post on build quality and functionality before purchasing.

Havent tried these but I've brought two things back to HF ever out of probably 75+ purchases, one was those interchangeable snap ring pliers. Absolute junk.
