You can but only if you drive your car and get it up to it's operating temperature at least once a month. Otherwise moisture may intrude in your fuel system and inside your engine and cause damage. Project Farm on YouTube did a video on this topic. My personal advice is make sure you use full synthetic oil and change your oil at least 1 time every year. You can push that to up to 18 months but I don't feel comfortable taking that additional risk. Engine oil is relatively cheap compared to a whole engine.

This is pre-covid normal price, not bad, in 4 2.

This generally depends on your engine's oil capacity and what kind of work it does. Subaru specs a 3,750 mile oil change interval for some of their older engines but those take less than 5 quarts and are turbocharged (meaning the oil is beat on). I personally know of a friend who blew one of those motors when they did 5000 mile changes on full synthetic oil. Mercedes' M272 engine makes less power than the Subaru engine but has an 8.5 quart capacity and I think there's a 10,000 mile(?) oil change interval. I've changed the oil on my M272 at 7000 miles and performed an analysis...and 7000 miles was too early of a change.
