Thanks, good info. In for 3.
That study concluded NO effects on memory, and the neurotropic effects of sucralose were not all that worse than the control group. Notably, the study did not deem it necessary to compare the artificial sweeteners to sugar. It was also conducted in the Philippines and published in the Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine. Maybe that's a marquis publication, but I have my doubts. Of the four authors, only two of them have published other papers, and then they only have three additional studies each. Not exactly the dream team of scientific research. The paper has only been cited 17 times, and none of those citations pertain to sucralose from what I can tell.

Anyway, what strikes me about that study is the dosage of sucralose relative to the others. Sucralose is 3x sweeter than aspartame (per the FDA), yet the dosage of sucralose given to the mice was SIXTEEN times that of aspartame (16000 mg/kg vs 1000 mg/kg). What's particularly odd is that aspartame and stevia were given at the same dose, while sucralose was substantially higher. A more appropriate dose, to simulate comparable real-world intake, would be 1/3 that of aspartame, so the dose given here is about 48x what it should be. Almost like they wanted to warp the results against sucralose. Even with that massive imbalance, sucralose comes out looking much better than the others.

There is a recent study (2023) which raised some new questions about sucralose, but apparently one of the authors has been on a crusade against sucralose for over 15 years (and was previously funded by the sugar industry). It doesn't appear that any subsequent studies have come out supporting or refuting this latest one as there are no citations yet. Since sucralose has been extensively analyzed by the FDA, the WHO, the EU, Australia/New Zealand, Canada, and Japan and found to be safe, I think I'll reserve a negative judgment on its safety pending more concrete and non-biased (or less biased) studies.

Also, in that last study you cite as "proof", here's the conclusion:
"No changes were detected in the central nervous system by light or electron microscopy in either of the species that received sucralose or its hydrolysis products."

Looks like sucralose is safe according to that one.

For me, this is one of the better flavors I've had, if not the best one. Some of the Celsius flavors have a noticeable aftertaste to me, and some of their flavors are downright nasty. The citrus ones seem to minimize the aftertaste, and this one in particular seems to eliminate it entirely.

Less than $1.25/can is a very good price (edited because I can't math) and not very common. The military commissary sells them for $1.69, for comparison (commissaries don't really make a profit and charge 5% to cover operating expenses).

The only problem is when I buy these 12 packs, I really get sick of the flavor!

For me that sparkling mango passionfruit and the grape are very good. Tropical is definitely good as well.

Have you tried the new cosmic vibe flavor? It's supposed to be like fruit punch. I haven't tried it yet because I can't buy just a single can.

What's so bad????? Since it pleases me to do so even though you are likely not serious:

Sucralose may negatively impact health in several ways.
Some of the health risks associated with sucralose include:
  • DNA damage
  • Leaky gut syndrome
  • Heart disease and certain cancers increased risk
  • Oxidative stress and inflammation
  • Burning sensation, painful digestion, diarrhea, gas, and bloating
Thanks, good info. In for 3.

I did. It's one of the better flavors if you like fruit punch, right behind Peach Vibe which is imo the best Celsius flavor.

I believe in moderation. 3 Red Bulls a day does the body good. Just a friendly suggestion.

I'll take the little bit of sucrulose half way down the ingredient list over your 27 grams of second ingredient pure sugar and third ingredient glucose any day of the week.
