I bought one of these and the metal was smeared with some kind of grease. I was never able to get rid of all of it, and there was always residue in the coffee and I was never able to actually make coffee that was drinkable.

When you first use these cheap espresso makers the first few times the paint often just melts off.

I rarely trust these moka pot knock-offs. They're often not well-made, and difficult to service/repair when parts wear out with age.

Just get the real thing from Bialetti if you want one, IMO:

It's more expensive, but it works. Italian families have been using them for almost a century, and replacement grommets, seal rings, etc. are readily sourced online from the manufacturer.
