Getting tired of this soft fraud comments. The system assigns a price to each item so there is no fraud. Home Depot knows about this, if it was fraudulent you better believe they would fix their system.
Complaining about people getting good deals when they don't need the whole package and the system is designed that way is silly.

Oh yay, the infamous Home Depot "hack" -- which is unethical and pretty much committing "soft"-fraud.

Buy something that's entirely meant as a package deal, and return part of the package due to how their system itemizes the receipt.
I hate to tell you, but you're entirely wrong. Thanks op for a good deal!

When I read nonsense like this, it's a healthy reminder that it's ok not to want to please everybody, because no matter how hard I try in business and in life, there will always be people who are wired to complain with an absurd point of view, like viewing this Home Depot strategy deployed by Home Depot itself over and over… and over… to boost revenue, is being "exploited" by "soft fraudsters." How out of touch do you need to be?

The infamous old guy who doesn't know how marketing works and thinks HD uses an abacus to balance their books.

Never heard of Soft Fraud. I don't know for sure but since these are discreet items I think HD is just happy to sell some of it too. If they sell some batteries and get the new unopened impact wrench back to sell elsewhere they are still ahead. I would agree with you if you somehow were ruining the other part of the package so it couldnt be sold, but that's not the case here. It's sort of like when a store has BOGO offer on something but their system also marks each one at 50% off. Am I committing Soft Fraud if I get one for 50% off rather than 2 for 1? What happens if I buy 3? Soft Fraud because I was supposed to get 4 for a little more?

Silly. The profit margin is at least 50% from sale price. You donot know how much Home Depot makes from these tools. Almost monopoly.

As tho home depot is so incompetent that they can't change how their system prices individual items. It isn't unethical nor is it soft fraud

Good deal. I wish that stores would include angle grinders on these deals, but I guess that they don't make enough money on those deals?
