$20 is a lot for these.
There isn't much to them - no padding etc
I only bought them at $15
Crazy seeing this here. I have one of these I purchased years ago and finally just used it on a recent trip. It worked out great and was far more comfortable to wear than I would have thought. Like previous poster mentioned, this thing has absolutely no padding but its good if you need to run out for some shopping while out of town and have something to carry everything in.
No padding at all but love all the pockets. It's my go to bag to take to theme parks or hiking. Plenty of room to throw things in for any need.

These are usually $10. I use my as a stuff sack when traveling. Works decently as a day pack but middle pocket is small. i carry mine when i go out shopping. throw in my travel charger and a reusable shopping bag and I'm good to go. took this all over the london underground

I have the 20L and the 30L. They are decent. I grabbed them when they were cheaper and for the $5-$10 they are well worth it. $20 might be pushing it. One of the packs frayed at the top hanging loop and EB was good about replacing it under warranty.

I use them for general short hikes, pickleball and other light activities.

I also have a venture pal packable pack from Amazon. These EB ones are nice and more substantial by a little bit.

Bought this on a previous Slickdeal in late 2022 for $5. Good backpack but not sure I'd pay $20 for it.

No padding is great when you want to make your own padding out of a sweater or towel. This way you can fit more in the bag

Very good point as a personal item for flights. Most of the Asian airlines now have combined weight limit for personal item and carry-on. Thanks

Is there such thing as an un-packable backpack?

The good old $5 shipped to home days for these bags. I have like 10 and they have been through Europe and Africa still holding up strong !!! Can't recommend enough but with inflation $20 seems reasonable. Also highly compact which is nice to have.

A solid buy for $20 if you're in the market for one.

I paid $10 and $15 for generic ones, and have stopped using either of them due to their poor quality issues, so in contrast, I would have saved time and money by going to a reputable purchase outright. IMHO, $20 is as low as you should go in this category. Smilie

This was a previous runner-up in a Wirecutter review of best daypacks, and I've used mine on dozens of flights, outings, and amusement park visits, and am happy with it. Wirecutter marked it down for concerns over durability, but I personally have a difficult time imagining this bag getting damaged unless you're intentionally taking a sharp object to it. Sure, it's not ripstop, but I have zero concerns putting this down on asphalt or having it glance against twigs and bushes in the woods. I don't think I could tear this bag with my bare hands, though I suppose if I dragged in on concrete with a water bottle in it, it wouldn't take long for it to rip. Not sure any bag in this category can withstand that.

As others have mentioned, no padding, no sternum strap, or no waist strap -- any of those would have helped with stability, as this bag tends to flop around if you carry higher density items like spare batteries, water bottles, phones, sunscreen, etc, but this category is meant more for helping carry extra layers and lightweight items like snacks.

What I really like -- the vertically long zipper in the front is pretty unique -- I stuff a thin pack of wet naps in there, and I find that it's very convenient to access. The foldaway double-sided zipper offers me a convenient place in the bag to hook a small flashlight and AirTag.

What I wish was better -- the water bottle mesh is about 4" high, and all but small water bottles can slide out unless you're careful. Wish this was a touch higher. I also with the bag had inner mesh sleeves for better organization. While it would add cost, it wouldn't add much weight or bulk to have 4-5 mesh sleeves here and there so I wouldn't have to go digging to the bottom for small items.

Either way, a solid buy for $20.

I had two and each fell apart within 2 years. Each had failed at the zipper or stitching that attaches to the zipper, rendering them useless. I decided to invest in better quality.

I purchased one of these when they were around $12-$15. I forgot how much I paid, but I use this a lot! This is perfect for day trips, just to leave in the car if you need, etc. the side pockets are huge. They can hold 26oz yetis. This is definitely a good thing to have. If you feel that you will use this a lot, this is about value at this point. $20 is not terrible, however it has been cheaper.

I have this and several other EB Stowaway bags. Always blows people's mind when this small pouch pops out to a good sized duffel or backpack I can stuff $100 of groceries into and ride away on my scooter.
