Which processor - upgrading my HP Compaq 6000 pro

If I were to upgrade my HP Compaq 6000 pro , which processor or SFF pc should I consider?
I have 2 HDs - one for OS.
Are newer chips are energy efficient and therefor lower performance?
I also use T480s and a T480s - also wonder about these devices - upgrades?
T480s is still a workhorse - just doesn't do the features in Zoom - virtual background.
