I have this lens and it's absolutely fantastic. If you need an all around lens with a large aperture, this lens is worth it. If you look at the used items on Amazon and buy it like-new in order to buy it for less than $1,500.

What is the difference between this and a decent cheaper lense? Does an expensive lense like this make a lot of difference? Also, would a lense like this benefit amateurs and pros? Genuinely curious.

6ave is grey market at best. Scammers at worst. Do not buy from them.

Other lenses with this zoom range will have a smaller aperture. That's the f number and smaller number means bigger aperture. Smaller f stop number means it can gather more light and can work better in lower light conditions. So this lens has a large zoom range for only going up to f2.8. Something like a Tamron 28-200 has more zoom range but is f2.8-5.6 and is really only 2.8 at 28mm. Once you start zooming in it drops off fast. However it is a much much lighter lens. Everything is a trade off. This lens is known to take good pictures at the cost of being large, heavy, and only zooming out to 35mm. More commonly people will pair a f2.8 24-70 and f2.8 70-200 but then you've got to swap lenses and carry two. Figure out what works best for you.

lol I bought a Sony RX100VA from 6ave on eBay. The camera didn't come with an official Sony box and for some reason whenever I change out the battery, the time resets on the camera. Even tried new, authentic Sony Batteries when changing batteries and the time still always resets. So annoying especially cause you have to put the time zone, date, then hour and minute etc every time the battery dies. Never purchasing from 6ave again!

I have a Sony A33 and A55 with same problem, in my case (and possibly yours) it's an internal battery that's practically impossible to replace.
