The cheap cat food is sprayed with stuff to make it smell and taste yummy - but it is full of fillers. Cats will eat more of the cheap food because they need more of it to get their necessary nutrients from it.

Please feed your cats a step up from the crap "cat" food. (My personal opinion is that the cheapest I'll ever feed my cats is the Cat Chow Naturals).

If you have a Costco membership, the Kirkland kibble is the best cat food for the value (25lb bag is around $22).

My 4 ferals thank you for this. They eat whatever cat food deal I can find. I spend average $0.3-0.6/lbs for their food. For them, something to eat is better than nothing to eat. Not everyone has budget for Science Hill's diet for their cats.

Yea this is not great cat food. Better than nothing but I call it mcdonalds cat food. It probably taste good but is not the best.

I mix 1/4 of cat food like this with 3/4 of better stuff. My cat eats it a little better when I do this.

We do the same. Better than feeding outdoor cats straight Diamond Naturals at $40/bag.

That's because your cat isn't being enticed by the fake spray.
Most cat food packages will say to mix 25% of the new food with the old food for one week, then do 50/50 the second week, and 75% new/25% old food the third week.

I have five cats - all are free-fed with two food dispensers, one always has the Kirkland, the other I'll vary it. The Kirkland dispenser needs refilling more often than the other brand stuff (usually Iams or Blue Buffalo).

By the way for others that want to try free-feeding, cat's (after an initial time period) can usually self-regulate their eating. With my five cats, one is underweight, two are perfect weight, one is about 1 to 2 pounds overweight, and one is about 3 pounds overweight. Three of them are brothers. Vet is fine with their weights, they are all otherwise healthy. (I'm in my 50's, have had indoor cats my entire life and all have been free-fed; average lifespan for my cats have been 15 to 17 years, even the slightly overweight ones.)

Kirkland kibble in the purple bag is made by Diamond the last time I researched it.
The 25lb bag is about $22 at my store.
