I think a lot of DSLR's still use the full size SD. Would also be useful for some older pocket digital cameras like the Canon Elph series.

Right, but most microsd cards come with the full size sd adapters, thus making it more versatile….unless the things you mention have issues with the sd adapter?

Please do not use MicroSD through an adapter in a modern DSLR/ILCE...........Speed limitation due to size of the media is why you wouldn't want a micro SD in your camera.

Any reference to back this up? A micro SD to SD card adapter is just wires inside (I opened one up just to confirm), and there are definitely fast micro SD cards that writes fast... I've been using Samsung Evo micro SD card in my camera for a year until I moved to a full size UHS-II card which is not the same speed class (and for which micro SD variant is definitely more expensive).

Well, I purchased a Samsung microsd card a few weeks ago and it came with a microsd card reader, no adapter...I'm now looking for an adapter...

Any SD-size adapter from any brand, like SanDisk, Lexar, Amazon Basics, or others will work. You actually got a better deal with the USB adapter.

It's just a size adapter. No micro chip on board.
