Would this be overkill for an aging pfsense set up?

on the plus side, 2 lan ports, on the negative, i personally dont want any of these without at least 1 thunderbolt port for graphics card enclosures (upgrade path). The CPU should be fine for awhile, but the graphics on it will fall behind somewhat quick.

Doesn't say what operating system is compatible. And Bluetooth is 4.2. Is this really a good deal?

Some of these sellers are fishy. Their Amazon StoreFront doesnt go to the official AceMagician storefront, and only selling a handful of AceMagician items.

As always:
Do a wipe/fresh OS install when you get it.
Only download drivers/software from acemagic.com and not a acemagic cloned site that the sellers link you to.

What's a legitimate machine to buy then? I've been interested in these smaller desktops but don't want to risk malware

Couldn't you just do a SSD complete wipe and install windows from scratch? Just a question that's all.

A $150 or less N100 should be more than good.

But I also suggest moving to one of Unifi cloud gateways, esp if you already have UI gear.

I did and am very happy.

Based on the reviews it looks like its on the recovery partition, and who knows if the firmware is infected as well. If all this is true then whoever buys this is basically paying to be part of some botnet attack or worse. I would stay away and go with a more reputable brand, even if it costs more.

If you do a complete SSD wipe and reinstall windows you should be fine - even delete recovery partition

I understand most of the customers that buy this will immediately start using it without wiping, but if you buy one make sure to wipe the SSD and reinstall windows.

The above should be standard procedure though, by reinstalling you get rid of all the bloatware and such

Many people who would buy this have no idea what a SSD partition is. Why do business with someone who would try to steal your data (or worse)? Good luck getting any warranty or support or drivers from such a scumbag company.

Agree - that's why most customers should stay away from this. But if you know how to wipe an SSD / will put another OS it's not a bad deal. Big list of caveats though

The Beelink on a seem to be clean, and they have pretty large volumes (meaning, more opportunities to be caught doing something bad)
