Be advised if you have a lazy bum for a wife or husband that knives like this will have chipped edges and rust. I buy garbage knives and throw them out after a couple years because my wife is a dolt with nice things. These knives require CARE.

I know shun is a major brand, so is anyone aware of fake Shuns (or knives in general) on Amazon?

I don't think there's much on Amazon that isn't susceptible to fakes. If it's actually sold and shipped by manufacturer might be a safe bet. Otherwise better to just go thru the official retailer site

nice catch on the Macy's match - because right now on the cb site that is likely most popular, there's 10 percent CB. pretty sure you can't type it here, ha.

Any advice on if this is a worthwhile improvement over a global?

If you're starting a collection this is a great start in my opinion. I already have brown handles so wouldn't want to add in grey but I love my Shun knives. https://a.co/d/fJQNHMH

After many Shun knives and recent set of Global, my opinion is that they are equal in terms of blade quality. It's a matter of preference on which handle you like...

To me, a global knife looks like it was cut off from one of T1000's arms.

I think fakes are easier to spot than people think, they aren't close to the original in my experience

I think Shun is just a Kershaw bought by a global brand and probably run into the ground like everything else. I wouldn't know because my wife abuses all of my nice knives and they're all trashed. Shun possibly makes a nice knife still.

I was set up buy the knife for my wife until this comment reminded me that she tosses knives into the sink where they remain for a day or so. I'll stick with stainless.
