mine says Jan 25-27. But like the poster above stated, be on the lookout for it everyday starting today. Had 1 delivery driver drop off a GPU that wasn't suppose to arrive for a month 5 days from ordering at 5:30 in the morning. Luckily, my RING woke me up to grab it. Not sure about other CCs, but with the Amazon card, once you notice the money's been taken out, it's on its way.

That sounds pretty scammy i wouldn't trust anything from china for retail products. As for retail price this isn't a deal and these cpu's aren't rare. people need to stop ever paying absurd prices.

Ordered one, as I'd prefer to get one in January anyway.

I had a couple chances to buy at Newegg last week on launch day, in stock and all when my scraping program showed stock, but I held off as I don't plan on a building so soon, and hope for some better motherboard pricing before end of year. The issue is only a couple motherboards will work for my build; graphics card, 40GbE networking, and SAS cards really cut out most options, especially when looking at other features such as ECC memory support or USB port speeds.

It looks like the scammer got removed. They had several items for sale that were way too good to be true.

The listing for $479 is sold/shipped by amazon.com

You have a build on pcpartpicker?
I'm looking to build a high end system as well.

No. I have 64GB DDR5 here already, and spare videocards to use.

Likely the following:
X870e proart motherboard (solid i/o speeds and connectivity)
9800x3d CPU
64GB DDR5-6400 (spare parts I have, non-ECC)
RX7800XT or RTX3080 (spare parts I have, likely use the Radeon for various reasons)
New PSU, some $150-200 Seasonic. My current one is around 10 years old now so worth replacing.
Probably a 2TB 990 Pro SSD with 7.68TB secondary SATA (spare part I have)
LSI 9300-4i4e HBA (existing)
ConnectX-3 40GbE (existing)
Fractal Define R4 (existing)

LG B4 48 primary monitor, some kaby lake touch AIO that also acts as a second display to main PC
Various audio DACs and audio pathways
Brocade 7250 48/poe and Mellanox SX6036 network switches for connectivity to everything else around here

For being the first time that I haven't upgraded every 1-2 years between the 90s until a few years ago, it has been weird to not replace my PC for so long. Every other PC around here is more recent, but this machine still has a 7700k, 64GB of RAM, 1080Ti, and only two smaller SSDs for OS and data. This new chip should be around 60% faster per core than the 4.8GHz 7700k has been, for general computation. Even my 14-inch 7940HS laptop puts the 7700k to shame, as expected - zen4 is much better than kaby lake.

Thanks for the info! I'm in the same boat as far as not upgrading constantly recently. Been pretty hardcore into it forever. (prior to 90's was Commodore however ;P)
Almost always had fairly cutting edge and my career assisted with that. But now it's been several years, and I'm dying to upgrade but need to research.

Many of my boxes were sever grade so had lots of IO possibilities but stepping down to consumer, it seems really limited so I appreciate your post.
I've got to spend some time researching ASAP.

I know I'm going with Fractal Design case, most likely Torrent if air cooled. Have a couple 4TB Samsung 990 Pros. Might get a Gen5 to waste some money but I'm a file hoarder, so will benefit from the speed and the 5090 when released.
Enough rambling, I should instead research ;P

That's when you need a bunch of disk arrays (and faster networking). I use SC216 cases for SATA/SAS SSDs and SC846 cases for 3.5" drives.

Maybe one of these decades I'll go through system backups, images, and file dumps of computers I have kept over the last 15 years and clean things up. Or not - it was easy to just copy everything to a new drive during upgrades, and only very rarely do I ever go back to dig up ancient files. The only file losses I've had were back before I had proper full backups, and had multiple Seagate 7200.11 1.5TB drives fail back to back to back in the 2008~2009 period. More drives dropped dead while waiting on RMAs. Those drives were the beginning of Seagate's reliability plummeting, and it persisted, but those 7200.11s were just terrible.

Now I keep copies of copies of copies, with frequent new checksums of every file, and tracking of checksums over time, and of course in various media types and physical locations. I still occasionally remember the feeling of loss that I had back then, not knowing what data I had lost since it was all gone. Only certain files remain from 15+ years ago, from which I kept copies of on a second PC or small external HDD.

I love to see this. Scalpers will be shamefully forced to return and cancel orders. This will make the available date much sooner. There may be a wave of open-box cpu's. Some retailers have to open the box to make sure that it's the correct item when they return it.
