Other stores do this as well, the reason is because they want foot traffic in the store hoping you'd buy other items

Yes they do that every year around Black Friday and Christmas. If apple care is important to you then Costco deal is your best bet. If cheapest price is more important than look into Deals like this plus check your credit card offers as I often see 10% cashback deals from Staples. Also Amazon: if you have Amex/Chase/Discover and are eligible for their pay with points promotions for 10%-40% off when using points (YMMV) that's usually the cheapest way to get airpods

Yes they do that every year around Black Friday and Christmas. If apple care is important to you then Costco deal is your best bet. Right now they're $200 at Costco and include AppleCare. I think Costco doesn't sell Apple items without AppleCare

I do see your point but the only reason I am getting these from Staples is because of their past three months and the boosted ink recycling rewards. Have been getting $25 a month in credit which they don't force you to use monthly (yet).
