it sounds like a third-party warranty provided by Allstate eBay has this on most of their refurbished listings for electronics

I got to be honest with you, I'm a big apple fan buy, and I have 3 iMacs all M1, M2, and M3 and I use them move them around, etc never had one go back on me.. knock on wood. Wonder what made them refurbished. Ya'll I'm almost tempted to buy another one. M1 devices are fast beasts.

There's never a scenario where buying this makes more sense than buying the new base m4 mac mini for less and pairing that with any monitor.

This completely negates the whole point of an iMac. The screen alone is worth it, try to find something in 4.5k range that makes any sense economically. Then you also get the the keyboard and mouse which alone set you back at least $100+. If you don't like this, great but for many, just to use this as a family computer, it's a great deal. For Word, Emails etc light use this is great. For older people, grandparents who have vision issues, this is great and cost the same as an iPad. If you are dealing with AI and other intensive tasks, this is not the machine for you.

No they are not. My m1 air is slow as fark. If you ever try apple intelligence it is not even usable any more. By disabling it you can still do light office work but anything else is PIA

Ah very interesting Fairpoint I have not updated to the new OS. I'm one upgrade behind. I'll look into this. I have an M3That's all maxed out, but I use a lot of my M1 for business and it's not heavy processing videos and things of that nature and it works quite well for me, but I understand where you're coming from. And that case correct me if I'm wrong, but your best bang for buck would be the minis. I must say the resolution and colors on these monitors are just beautiful. Was what attracted me initially

I will concede that the monitor alone generally goes at a high price point. With the LG 5k one at minimum $500-$600. However what's the point of having such a nice monitor crippled with a M1 chip?

I mean how detailed do you need your emails to be?

No, you don't have an m1 air. This description isn't true.

Did you add additional thermal pads to transfer the heat to the bottom aluminum plate? M1 Airs throttle like crazy because they're no internal fans. Once you figure out how to dissipate heat, it's good.
