And can you play new games with apple silicone? MacOSX doesn't have many modern games these days. This thing is a game dedicated laptop. It's hard to compare it with Macbook. Not everyone likes or wants to use heavily restricted OS like Mac. Next time compare Apple to Apple. There's a dedicated audience for it. Just don't show up in gaming thread and bash gaming laptops. I'll be cool if you compare it to a similar gaming laptop deal.
You dont carry this thing around, it's for ppl moving from one apartment to another every year or two.
This is also useful if you visit friends or family and want to game. Decades ago, we'd carry our entire rigs over for Lan parties. Younger me would have loved this.

Is this the best deal out right now?
I've been holding out on buying a gaming laptop for some time and missed a few deals.
I was shooting for under $1K, but will take this as it would probably be good for years, right?

Crazy price for a laptop 4090

If 5000 series truly is that much better, can always return. Costco has an excellent return policy.

So what's the story with the 13th and 14th gen intel CPU's? I've seen conflicting reports that the updates fixed it and others that say they haven't.

#1. The display isn't OLED or 10-bit
#2. It has a 50 minute battery life on battery and probably less than half its performance.
#3. An Apple M4 Pro runs circles around the flawed 14900HX
#4. What's the point of non portability?

Still plugged in wize it might be better than my Desktop 3080 Ti
I'd bite at $2,000

But in terms of "gaming" laptops this is an absolute nightmare and I've seen bad ones.

yeah my 16" macbook pro is 4.7lbs and that's about the upper limit for portability for me. but 8lbs for this much power is pretty impressive. The 330W brick probalby weighs another 3lbs though.

Still, this thing needs an oled. Nearly 2025, IPS is dead

I agree gaming laptops should not be compared to Macbooks. Macs are pretty much for productivity only. There are $600-$800 PCs without dedicated GPUs you'd compare to Macbooks instead. As for the size, I think I fit their use case perfectly - when you don't want to be locked into one location at home for gaming. I tend to game in the bedroom and also move to other rooms like the living room. Harder to do that with a full blown desktop and monitor. With that said, I'd go for the Acer 4090 for i think the same price...that one at least has a mini LED display.

I don't agree on the oled part, I love oled screens 100 percent but when I buy a 2500 dollar laptop I want it to last, sadly oled will get burned in more or less.
