Thanks for the find. Bought an open box slightly more than this less then a month ago. Bought the membership plan for $50 so going to return this for a new one for future price matching (in case it goes down further over the next 60 days)

4080 only offers the Intel processor, not the new AMD.

AMD > Intel

The Intel processors are fine. There are no issues. Even the desktop Intel ones that had issues, all can easily be corrected with bios update. I don't get why AMD fanboys spread these lies so hard. If you like AMD then give the some of the positives that are true: it uses less power and is more efficient. The Intel cpus are more capable but is power hungry. That's the tradeoff.

What lies? The AMD processor is better. To get the 4080 GPU I am forced to go into an Intel ecosystem (which is not at good as you just explained) I have to spend more $. I just ordered this configuration, open box - excellent for $1710 before tax. To get into the 4080 w/ the Intel I would have to spend 2,399.00 (linked here: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/asus...Id=6600365 before tax (no open boxes available) which also only comes with a 1TB SSD.

So this has nothing to do w/ fanboys... I cannot justify spending $689 more on a laptop for a lesser performing CPU, smaller SSD only to get into the 4080 GPU.

Got this laptop open box excellent. Was practically brand new. The warranty started on the 11th so it was just open and returned. Also the charging brick wasn't used because the plastic was still covering the area where the cord is supposed to insert into. Great laptop. I returned my Lenovo legion 7i with intel i9 for this one

Tempting. Open box is 1680 for me. But still way too expensive. I'll keep waiting. I don really need a laptop right this instance.

Lol - my open box, excellent, was the same. Hope the new one I ordered is also the same.

I also returned the Legion 7i with intel i9 for this. night/day difference. The speakers on the Legion were awful. I like the upward facing speakers on the Asus and dont mind not having a keypad.

Debating returning my proart p16 for this (open box 1300 vs 1700)

Lose: touch screen, 4k, the creator wheel

gain: 240hz, 4070 ,an extra tb storrage and hopefully no boot loop crashes

Thoughts?
I use it for browsing, video editing and little gaming

Prepare for random BSODs. Picked this up during the last sale and it's hit or miss. When it works, it's great. I know they'll figure out the issues. So, I haven't returned it yet.

Seems like the best value for a G16 with 32GB of RAM. It's $450 more for a 4080 with 1TB less storage and slightly inferior Intel CPU. Add another $600 for a 4090. At the same time it feels like a shame to settle for lower FPS on a 240Hz display.

Yeah, don't you just hate it when you can't also use your $2000 gaming laptop for your accounting day job?

Only you can answer that. If the gain is better than the losses, do it!
