Why is the "Made in the USA" phrase being thrown around on these tools?
I know the old Craftsman USA versions had the socket part made in the USA, and the bit part was made overseas. And they mated them together and called them "Made in the USA", and I think kind of got in trouble for saying that. Not sure if that is the case here.
Also, the "Lifetime Warranty" only applies to the socket part. The bit part is considered consumable and not covered under warranty. But it is the bit part that would break, unlikely the socket part would ever fail.
So seems like the "Made in the USA" and "Lifetime Warranty" claims are a bit misleading.
How come there's no inverted triple square socket set?
FWIW, the product box for the triple square set says assembled in USA from global and domestic components.
WRT the warranty…yeah that's confusing. They sell individual, stand alone bits as well, which have a slightly different warranty description "consumable." It's not clear to me whether they're considering bit sockets to be wholly sockets, or sockets with an "individual bit" inserted. I don't know why you would ever consider a bit socket to contain an "individual bit"…but the description implies this to be the case here.
Probably still as cheap as anything is gonna get for any USA involvement, but appreciate the correction.

So I suspect they are kind of a Frankenstein monster. Sockets made in one country, Bits made in another country, and Tray made in another country. Then all three assembled as the final product in the USA.
The bits are S2 Steel, which is good because they would tend to bend under load rather than break. I've had a Craftsman USA socket Torx bit shatter on me doing suspension work on a car (glad I had gloves and eye protection). Craftsman USA had a good socket, but bit was poor quality.
I do agree that for this price these are definitely going to be the best value out there.

I pulled that info directly from Mayhew's website. Mayhew calls it a Lifetime warranty, and I included the link. Also, Mayhew's website indicates COO is "A-USA." If you look closely, in the pics, you can see "USA" stamped/printed on the actual Torx Plus bits.
That said, if I were to guess… the "A" in A-USA is probably for Assembled and the bits are actually Made in USA (but not the Chrome Vanadium sockets). The Sockets that the Torx Plus bits are pressed into are probably made in Taiwan and assembled with those USA made bits at Mayhew's American factory. Idk that for certain, but that's my guess.
