The Ryzen 7 with double the storage is $100 more and that's a better deal.

The innovation has come in battery life and size. RAM is less important as processing power has grown as well.

Ten years ago a 16" laptop weighed twice what this does and it's battery lasted an hour and a half.

Until people stop buying it, what incentive is there for them to change?

Back in 2014, we made the choice that unless you had a "CLEARLY ARTICULATED REASON" for something running 8gb or 4gb, you were to be assigned a laptop with no less than 16gb of ram.

That was over a decade ago.

Imagine our chuckles when we still hear people defending 8gb. We've moved onto 32gb as our base. It's like laptop development has disgustingly stagnated in the past decade....like a giant pause button was hit and no one bothered to restart the development process.

Other than stupid things like removing the audio jack, making a "NOTCH", or having a trackpad without defined edges. lol. Such innovation. Wondrous advancement.

Totally agree.

The development is using larger and larger libraries needing more and more RAM. Gone are days of having 100 tabs open. Laptops struggle with 40+ tabs. And if you Facebook or YouTube etc open, forget it. They crawl your fancy 16gb 1700+ laptop to a halt.

People need to wake up and realize that everything needs more RAM these days. Even Apple silently acknowledges needing 24gb for 'pro' users. That is the bare minimum.

Also RAM is cheap enough that these manufacturers can add it for another $10 cost. But like you said, they won't do that as long as we are treating these as great deals

I got Ryzen 7 and 1TB, with 10% off + $100 back from Amex for spending over $500, $439 + tax, nice deal.
