Honestly probably a floor model this time of year since they will need to clear out for new CES announcement TVs. With an OLED and being a floor model I would not bother.

Don't think they are all floor/display models. I was in my local BB yesterday and they had an OB excellent (not showing online) for $884 with the screen protector plastic still on. That's what prompted me to start this thread this AM. They also had an OB excellent (non-display) Sony 65" A75L (not showing online) for $985. Since they weren't showing online yet, they are probably Xmas returns.

TVs announced at CES usually aren't available until mid year.

That's a good point, though I would be weary, there is no way to verify if it's a floor model or return typically. I bought a floor model LG UB8500 years back and it's still going strong, but with OLED it's a crapshoot. Plus Best Buy employees don't really care, and aren't experienced so you may end up with something worse quality or with issues, it's just a lot of work and risk for relatively minimal savings IMO

Most new tvs start arriving February thru April which is why current models get deep discounts to make warehouse space for new arrivals

Yep that's what I did. Got a 77 inch LG OLED C1 for $700 3 years ago. Was a floor model but been happy with it. Better than any other tv I could've gotten in that price range

You have to add it. At the pricing in this thread, 5 yr GS Protection for the Excellent & Good is $190, and $180 for Fair. Sometimes in-store they'll offer additional discounts on OB TVs and Warranty for such, but YMMV.

To be honest, I wasn't too satisfied with my Geek Squad coverage. I paid for a 5 year Geek Squad warranty on a Sony floor model (not OLED) since I had bad luck with a brand new LG after its manufacturer's warranty ran out. However, when my TV's power supply board failed a few years into the warranty, the parts that kept coming in for repair were unreliable refurbished ones. Since it was "too expensive" for them to order new parts and I was unable to get a new/open box TV at the same standards with the credit they were offering, they just refunded how much I paid for my TV (without the Geek Squad warranty) as a Best Buy gift card.

After that, I ended up getting a Sony floor model at Costco, which also had their extended warranty as part of the price. I came home and there was burn-in behind the sticker in the corner (not sure how), and somehow managed to get that TV replaced with the newest model of the line - delivered directly by Sony, but the Costco model of it.

I got one in "fair" condition. It still had the plastic over the screen and the accessories bag was sealed. Utterly insane deal on an amazing TV. Thanks!

I also picked one up a 55" on Sunday for $627 before tax. It was listed as good and had a note on the box that it was missing remote but was in perfect condition and the remote was in the box. I'd tried to get a 55" S90D on Saturday for $759 which was listed as "fair" but it was totally trashed with visible damage to the screen. I had them take both of them out of the box to check before taking it home (the fair was covered with bubble wrap and no box). Great deal if you can find it within reasonable driving distance and are willing to potentially waste a trip. Note: seems they've raised the prices for the 55" now for both the S90D and S85D.

How are you not satisfied with your Geek Squad coverage when they ultimately refunded the money you paid for your TV? That's great coverage.
