I bought the 2 camera kit from blink and received a free sync module. Got another one with my wireless floodlight from Home Depot. Installed my own flash drive and now have a local storage solution. I have both blink and ring. Personally prefer the blink because it's no nonsense local storage feature.

Never got into the Blink cameras as you need the Sync to really get most of the functionality out of it.

Would rather not have to buy another product to get the full functionality.

Read a lot of these comments which worried me to ever install my Blink stuff. Finally put up the doorbell and an interior Mini 2 before heading out for vacation at Christmas.

Super impressed with how easy it was to set up. I have the sync module and intend to use it, but so far just using the free month trial.

Detected people perfectly, recordings are crystal clear outdoors, and even the footage of us leaving for the airport at 4 am was easy to see with night view.

Not sure what is up with all of the blink hate- the cameras are great.

Just ordered two of these to put up outside and to be able to avoid changing batteries.

I will also probably just bite the bullet and pay the $100 a year subscription fee because it will cover all of the devices, and, the one shady thing they do, is lock person detection behind the paywall.

Other than that, don't get caught up on the blink hater posts. I think Ring has a team on here Wink

A lot of the hate comes from the cost of service VS the actual service provided. We have a small property and have had blink for 3 years now. I can tell you that after paying for the service throughout and using 6 outdoor cameras and 4 indoor cameras I am fed up with it. 80 percent of the time you can't pull up live news because it fails and you need to click it again . Cameras will simply not capture when they feel like it . The pan and tilt cameras will cease to pan and tilt . The indoor cameras will capture continuously regardless of sensitivity setting. The outdoor cameras will decide when and if they feel like working and also sometimes capture continuously regardless of setting resulting in having to watch hours of footage to find specific clips. Blink as a company refuses to release their own designed solar charging outside of the purchase of a new camera. The batteries last such a short amount of time that it is truly a joke. Night vision is there but not very good especially at distance , indoor cameras make constant clicking sound when starting to record. Outdoor cameras might as well not be used unless buying a third party solar charging solution due to battery drain and even then see issues above.also it must be noted that their actual service will go down from time to time resulting in sometimes 24 hours plus of nothing being uploaded to the service you pay for. This was our experience across multiple camera replacement as well as router replacements from someone with a LOT of experience with these types of products across 3 years of ownership. If you need something simple that you don't mind being able to depend on maybe 75 percent of the time then go right ahead.

It's meant to be installed in place of an existing outdoor wired light fixture.

As a counterpoint, I have been using blink for a year at the office and have not had any of the issues mentioned here. Sensitivity works fine, night vision works fine, it records reliably. Live view of cameras work fine too.

About solar power, that part is correct. As far as I know, Blink does not make one. It is not a big deal, I'm using solar panels from a 3rd party designed specifically for Blink that has high review ratings. Fits perfectly, even came with a customized silicone plug that tightly seals the cable into the blink camera.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
