Habit #8 - Not wasting time reading self-help books that take ideas which could be presented in a few paragraphs and bloviate for 415 pages.
To each his own. Everyone has to determine how to use the limited time we have in this life. But there is value in sitting with a book and its ideas over an extended period of time to let it shape & sharpen one's ability to think and garner instincts. Using AI to condense everything or even most things will blunt this process.
Great book, full of practicable examples. Read it multiple times. Highly recommend.

If you can only read one book on self improvement, this is the book.

This is a "infographic version" of the famous book. It is not the 1980s/90s book.

While your right that some of it could be greatly condensed. It's still a good read for a young person to get meshed into. I get that some of it just seems like common sense. But in an age where basic econ, like how to balance an account, appears to no longer be taught in school, its probably not a bad read for kids who may not be exposed to those "habits".

Seven Habits isn't that bloated. If you've seen the book it looks thicker than it is because of the type that they use.

But the author did make an "8th Habit" book, which was quite bloated. And the author (or his friends) made expanded versions of some of the habits into separate books, which again feel quite bloated.

There's definitely a lot of examples that have to do with business in the book, but I'd argue that the book is more universal than that.

Pointless getting these books anymore these days unless you just enjoy reading.

You can ChatGPT a summary of it which would give you the gist of what the book is overall about.

The gimmick here is that they put the cart before the horse. The grain of truth in it in this case is that "highly effective" people in their probably amorphous definition of it tend to do these things. What they want you to believe that if you start doing these things you will become highly effective. Tis type of book exploits the fact that people see what are in fact tools but believe them to be solutions.

That's not to say that there isn't useful information in there. For some people, simply seeing concepts re-arranged and re-stated can clarify things in their own minds, connect concepts and improve their assessment of strengths and weaknesses. The secret though is that the reader still has to do all of the work.

decided to stop reading self help books in 2019 and Happy ever since. If you are 30 or above, the world would have already taught you everything you need to know.
