if you get this game with your buddies, after a few vanilla games download Thunderstore Mod manager and go ham with this game it makes the experience that much more enjoyable and fresh

Is the co-op like Remnant or Nine Parchments where anyone can just drop in?

Also thanks for sharing about Thunderstone , never heard of it and they support one of my favorite games: Risk of Rain 2

No, the co-op isnt like that. In Vanilla you have to wait until a "fresh" run start. But with Thunderstore you can get a Mod called Late Company where you can join whenever, but all members need the same mods for the best effect.
