Would this make a decent work monitor? Currently have 2x24" dell IPS 1080 monitors that are 10 years old, used 8 hours per day. Nothing wrong with them, but thought at this price, the 4k and more real estate would be an upgrade?

Probably not. Things have gotten a lot better in recent years but TVs, especially cheap ones, tend to have substantially higher input lag, worse viewing angles, and lousy color compared purpose built monitors that are intended to be viewed close up.

The last pioneer TV I got from Best Buy was dead less than 2 weeks. Even though I was still within the 15 days return period, their employee still told me I have to take it up with the manufacturer. I have to reason with them in order to get the mgr to approve it as a return.

Got the 43" during the Christmas sales, or I'd grab this. It's fine for a bedroom TV. Interface can be a little slow, but we've been able to use all of our streaming services on it just fine. Viewing angle not great, but good enough for our use.

Just a warning, Xumo is probably the worst smart TV platform imaginable, a "dumb tv" is probably preferable due to how annoying it is.
Everything else from Vizio's OS, to Samsung, to Fires/Rokus are better. Xumo's do not play nice with a lot of CEC devices, and if you have your own HDMI device it delays your startup so you will always initially see the xumo OS rather than straight boot to your device. Their crippled versions of apps don't let you stream local content (their plex app doesn't allow your own servers for example).
