If you're on the fence about which Gretsch to get (these Indonesia-made Streamliners vs. the China-made Jets) and are mostly concerned with playability and weight, this is hands down the one. My Jet is beautiful and the Bigsby is nice jewelry, but it's not tuning stable even after playing the crap out of it, and it doesn't ring out like the Streamliner. If you're an experienced player, you'll hear immediately when you start playing it, it's LOUD unplugged. And feather light.

I bought the older version of this with the big square inlays a little over a year ago for $219. It became my #1 instantly.

I just bought this one to have a backup and spread the fret wear to a second guitar. They are that good.

It seems adorama commonly has a rotating good deal on gretsches. I bit about a year ago on a 2622t which I really like. If it were to do it again, I'd go with a 2622 like this. The bigsby on mine was a fun novelty, but now it just gets in the way and makes tuning more challenging. Still very happy with my purchase though. These are great guitars for the money.

Can't speak on the Gretsch but I bought 2 or 3 guitars from adarama, never an issue! Really good company to buy from.

I think everyone with broad guitar tastes should try a Bigsby. I spent years playing Fender Strat trems, along with a few Floyds. I get to play a friend's Mustang when I want, and spent a bit of time with a Jaguar. They're cool in their own ways.

I like the Fender Strats and the Floyds better for hard rock dive bombing, but the Bigsby (mine is a B70) feels different. More subtle, maybe?

Eventually I'll buy the very common soft spring mod for the Bigsby, but I already like the firm stock spring.

The real solution is obvious. Buy two Gretsch guitars. One with a Bigsby, one without. And then maybe a third with a Bigsby to mod with a soft spring. At these prices, that's actually pretty affordable.

I bought a P90 on an Adorama deal last year. I've found these to be brutally frustrating guitars due to very modest build quality. I've got 200+ hours of play time on mine and there's no hope for tuning. I've yet to find a properly playable action either. Zero room in frets 1-4 and nearly 1/3" at 22 when a capo on 1st. I love the acoustics, in good with how it feels, but the whole unit is soft. You don't need a whammy, just squeeze the guitar.

I will offer that you are not going to get a better semi-hollow anywhere close to this price.

I got one of the burnt orchid finish 2622s from PAS a few weeks ago for $299, and other than a couple of slightly rough fret ends, it was near flawless. The BT-3s pickups in these are also an improvement over the previous versions. I bought it to satisfy my semi-hollow GAS, and was going to swap out the pickups, but I may leave it as-is.
