I bought the TP-Link Tri-Band BE19000 WiFi 7 Router (Archer BE800) and it was nothing but issues. Signal strength was poor even when the device was in question was one room over. Anything past that often got disconnected. The reviews said it was a problem, but I figured it was people who didn't know how to set it up. It was a waste of $500. Only reason why I upgraded was because I was now getting 2Gbps down and 400Gbps Up and wanted to get utilize it Wifi 6E.

Tried almost everything before giving up and cutting my losses. This was less than a month ago, firmware could have fixed the problem but I wasn't going to wait. Went back the Netgear Nighthawk and haven't had an issue since. Funny thing I had nighthawk wifi 6 router before and thought they are too expensive and others could do the same thing. It was a pricey mistake on my end. Look at the negative reviews because its mentioning the same problems I went through. My place is less than 1000 sq ft.
This and other routers from TP-Link are on sale. I want it but I am weary about the ban
I remember all those great Huawei "MateBook" laptop deals right before Huawei was banned. How great do you think firmware support will be on TP Link routers if the US govt bans them (ie, places TP Link on the US Entity List)?

I have this router. I like mine a lot. Very fast, all the latest features. I've only had to reboot it for troubleshooting once in the five months I've owned it. And, that probably wasn't the router's fault.

I'm upgrading my Google Fiber from 1 Gbps to 2 Gbps next month. I expect this router will keep up.

You rarely have a choice where they put the ONT terminals.

On my install, the geniuses mounted it too close to the breaker box and blocked the door from opening.

You can extend the fiber fairly easily if it's a standard SFP+ install. The extension cables are about $12 on Amazon for 30FT. Or just run ethernet and keep the modem where it is.

The main appeal to this router is all the 2.5Gb ethernet ports for consumer level prices.

Even if you were to only use it as a wired router and got a better router for WiFi, it would still come under the price of the next best consumer offering with this many 2.5Gb ethernet ports.

With that said, TP-Link's firmware isn't great and there's no word on when it'll get third party support.

If you don't need the ethernet ports and can settle for 6E, the Flint 2 is a much better router that regularly goes on sale for $120.

Quote :
Investigators at the Commerce, Defense and Justice departments have all opened probes into TP-Link routers due to ties to Chinese cyberattacks. These departments are weighing a potential ban on the sale of TP-Link routers, according to a Wall Street Journal article published in December. Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-Illinois) and Rep. John Moolenaar (R-Michigan) spurred the investigation over the summer with a letter to the Department of Commerce that called for an immediate ban.

It won't be good. They have no incentive to provide support to a country where their products are banned.

Mine is down there, so when I had an addition put on the upstairs of my house, I had them run an ethernet cable to the 2nd floor, where I have a router.

Same here. This is a good price, but I'm worried about the security issue. Friendly note: I think you meant "leery of," as in suspicious or worried. Or maybe "wary of," which means the same thing. "Weary" means tired or worn out.

Reminder that most of your devices probably aren't fully utilizing WiFi 6 yet.
