For those who don't know, Chase [chase.com] is celebrating 15th anniversary of the Chase Freedom card.
To that end, for Chase Freedom and Chase Freedom Flex card holders, there is an additional 5% bonus category for March only, which is Tax Preparation and Insurance. This is in addition to NCL, Grocery Stores, Gyms, and Hair/Nail/Spa.

Hopefully, this helps those that still need to file their taxes. And 5% off those large insurance premiums is always appreciated.

NO. You do not have to re-activate to be eligible for this offer. As long as you activated the first quarter 2025, you are also activated for the March-only tax prep and insurance offer.

If you have not activated first quarter 2025, then yes, you must activate. Deadline is March 14:

Thanks so much for the heads up OP. My auto policy is up for renewal in mid March, so this is perfect timing! Repped.

Do we have to enroll our card to be eligible for this offer ? Like how we usually enroll in quarterly bonus?

Yes, card holders need to "activate" for every quarterly bonus (i.e., you sign onto your account online and activate it there. or you can call them and activate over the automated phone system.).
These activations are usually available a few weeks before the start of each quarter (i.e., cardholders could activate starting sometime in December 2024 for the 1/1-3/31/2025 quarter).
You will NOT earn any bonus on transactions made before activation (i.e., you made a qualifying purchase on 1/15 but you didn't activate until 1/20 so that purchase on 1/15 will not earn bonus).

That last part of the statement you made doesn't match the FAQ:

If I don't activate until late in the quarter, will I still earn 5% cash back in quarterly bonus categories?
Yes! In fact, you'll earn 5% cash back for all bonus category purchases you've made for the whole quarter (up to $1,500), no matter when you activate as long as it's by March 14, 2025. So if you activate any day before then, you'll earn 5% cash back for category purchases dating back to January 1, 2025.

Hm. My bad. I always thought I had to activate BEFORE purchases. Maybe that's because I've been trained to do that from Discover Card or all the other rewards/bonus type programs.

Thanks for notice, but I already spent $1500 on groceries this quarter, so adding an insurance category for the final month of the quarter is wasted.
Somehow I doubt that it is an accident they pick one of the easier quarters to max out for the addition of something expensive like insurance.

apparently there will be bonus categories each of the quarters in the coming year (2025), in honor of Chase Freedom 5% fifteenth birthday.

Thanks for the heads up!! Repped. I think this applies to both the Freedom as well as the Freedom Flex cards. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

You can get 5 percent cashback on groceries 12 months a year using the Citi Custom Cash card.

Max $500 per month.

If I've already spent $1,500 on groceries, I can't take advantage of this I assume?
