You've got to ask yourself what you'll be using this laptop for most.
If you're all about a stunning screen, easy portability, and the latest tech like Wi-Fi 7 and Thunderbolt 4, then the Asus is your winner. Think vibrant colors, deep blacks, and a machine that's a joy to carry around.
However, if you're a power user who needs to tackle heavy tasks and appreciates the option to upgrade your RAM down the line, the Dell is the way to go. It's got the muscle for demanding workloads.
Basically, if you're looking for a fantastic all-around laptop for everyday use, movies, and travel, the Asus is a solid pick. But if you're planning on pushing your laptop to its limits with demanding software, then the Dell's extra horsepower and upgradeability will serve you better.

I purchased the Asus open box for $372 but with cash back sites and points from Amex, it will be $346 all in. I could be biased but I'd go for Asus - I avoid Dell in general.

For your use case, yes. Here's why without writing an essay.
~ Your workload (tons of tabs, RDP, Teams) hits the CPU hardest.
~ Dell's Core i7 is stronger than Asus's Core Ultra 5.
~ Dell's RAM upgrade is a big plus.

Get the Dell. Upgrade the RAM to 32GB and call it a day.

I meant to reply to this comment. Cpu benchmark says corre ultra 5 is better

Good response and wanted to amplify the avoiding Dell in general. With my business, I've bought and recommended probably over a 1000 Dell systems over the many years and have always had good support, until a year ago. They stuck me with an expensive server because buried in their T&C it says servers are not returnable. BURIED. Since then, the few things I've bought that have needed support it's been atrocious. When they say "NBD replacement" they mean after weeks of "teams" deciding to replace your item, you may get it NBD. They just don't care anymore.

I would suggest anyone buying Dell now to not pay for higher priced warranty add-ons as they don't honor what the warranty says.

I'm sorry you had that issue. Thankfully, I haven't had issues getting warranty work done. Just a few weeks ago, I had a laptop with no power. I called it in, we troubleshooted, he got the part ordered, tech came in next day.

I'm going to go with laptops/desktops - not too bad. Servers/enterprise hardware: ask the lawyer to read the fine print.

I was thinking about jumping on this before all the tariffs make electronics prices go up, but it's sold out now .

Nice laptop but I'm done with Dell. Their website is horrible. Dell boasts about all their financing offers when you use your Dell Pay Credit account but when you try to purchase something, it doesn't even offer Dell Pay Credit as a payment option which means I cannot get any financing options or Dell reward points. It's been like this for months. I've called both Dell and Comenity Bank who runs Dell Pay Credit and neither of them could help. I've read forums where this is happening to a lot of customers and account holders. Not worth the hassle anymore.

Keep in mind there's no native RDP support in Windows 11 Home.

Will either this laptop or the Asus be able to handle mild video editing? I'm not editing the next LOTR or anything.

I ended up purchasing a certified refurbished Lenovo Ideapad 5 14" (also a two in one) for $450 on ebay. I prefer the AMD 8845HS CPU.

You know what's cheaper than a lawyer? Putting a message on the checkout page with a checkbox that I've read that "This item is not returnable". Is that too much to ask?

As for the other issues, one was a brand new Dell 6K 32" monitor that had discoloration. Jumped through all their hoops taking pics, etc., and after almost 2 weeks was finally approved for an exchange (still within return period). They needed a CC for the advanced exchange -- fine. I did that and within minutes, I got an email that the exchange was declined! More back and forth with the tech support people telling me the case is with some team or another for another week until I finally got with Dell Care and asked for a return where I got a label in my inbox and sent that thing back. The bureaucracy at Dell is deep.
