Be sure to read the one star reviews. No way in hell I'd side load an unknown app like this just to run a cheap label maker.

Note that this label maker requires that you download and install the "XEasyLabel" mobile app onto your phone to use it.

The app has 2.6* on the Apple store and complaints about suspicious background uploads and high utilizations coming from the app.

Haha and that still didn't stop SD from making it a "popular deal" with +5 deal score.

Just so everyone knows, the reason this is priced so cheaply is because they will most likely use their app to mine your data.

This reminds me of the cash loan apps that were stealing user data.. https://thehackernews.com/2024/12...n.html?m=1

Don't trust me, educate and empower yourself.

The app looks to be available in the App Store. Not sure what you mean sideload.
Reading through the company's privacy policy, and taking a quick look at the app's traffic, I don't see anything particular concerning from a privacy perspective.
The app contacts a few third-party domains for analytics and crash reporting (bugly.qq.com, beacon.qq.com, graph.facebook.com, xplable.oss-cn-hangzhou.aliyuncs.com) and a couple domains that appear directly related to app functionality (api.xplable.com, api2.xplable.com, xplable.oss-cn-hangzhou.aliyuncs.com). I see some basic device info being sent that's common for analytics, but nothing jumps out as particularly sensitive, or anything they shouldn't have access to.
But again, I only took a quick look. Maybe there's something more nefarious going on, but statements being made here seem like ignorant fear mongering 🤷

For $7 might be worth a try for some basic label making but it looks like you get what you pay for; very basic functionality, meh performing app, no bells/whistles. The app in on the Apple App Store with 2.6 rating and 25 ratings (as of writing this). I can't speak to android and what privacy restrictions they have or not for the data mining.

one star reviews complain about no usb/ethernet, sideloading an app (which is not true its in the app store) and hit/miss quality vs expectations. What else you got?

There is a post for NIIMBOT label maker. It has a chinese app but someone built a website with which you can print label on it without having any issues of sharing your data. You print it directly through the website: https://github.com/multimote/niim...me-ov-file
