(Mods, I was not sure if this was a "deal" or "deal discussion". Please feel free to move it to a different thread if you feel that is warranted. Thanks!)

I was frustrated with not being able to track my kids' Michigan 529 plans in Quicken and Simplifi.

I also am not a fan of the clunky interface for the MISaves website, and just wanted a simple summary of their 529's.

After some digging, I found a workaround using the New York 529 aggregator. This method works because Michigan's MESP shares the same TIAA platform as New York's 529 program. This lets me easily monitor my accounts in Quicken and view a nice, single page summary of the plans.

For a quick view of your accounts (after you setup aggregator access), you can log in directly to the aggregator site: https://www.nysaves.org/nytpl/agg...entials.cs

Step-by-Step Guide to Creatin g Aggregator Credentials:

1. Create Aggregator Credentials:
  • Log into your MISAVES account at https://www.misaves.com/ using your regular login credentials.
  • Navigate to "Profile & Documents"
  • Select "Password & Security Features"
  • Click on "Manage Financial Aggregator Access"
  • Create a new username and password specifically for aggregator access

2. Connect Through Quicken/Simplifi:
  • Open Quicken or Simplifi and go to add a new account
  • Search for "New York 529" (not Michigan)
  • Select "New York 529 College Savings" (the aggregator option)
  • Enter your newly created MISAVES aggregator login credentials
  • Complete the connection process

Known Issues: Quicken sometimes experiences connectivity issues with aggregators, resulting in errors like 102 or 105. If you encounter problems, try again later or contact Quicken's support team.

This method should work for other state 529 plans using the TIAA platform, including California, Georgia, Oklahoma, Wisconsin, and Iowa.
