Just received a text from T-Mobile that reads:

T-Mobile: For the first time in nearly a decade, we're making an update to the price of some of our older monthly service plans. Starting on 4/2/2025, your phone plan will increase by $5 per line per month. You'll keep all the benefits you currently enjoy, and your rate plan type and bill due date remain the same. For more information, visit...

Which lands at a page with the following:

At T-Mobile, you pay less and get more.
While some of our competitors have announced multiple price increases – 10 in two years between AT&T and Verizon – for the first time in nearly a decade, T-Mobile is making small adjustments to prices on some of our older monthly service plans.
Our commitment to delivering the best value isn't changing and never will. Even with these updates, T-Mobile customers still save an average of 20% compared to AT&T and Verizon on comparable wireless and streaming services—while continuing to enjoy America's leading 5G network and award-winning customer experience.
Thanks for being with us.

FYI I've been on Magenta for years. I currently pay $240/month for 10 lines (including some free lines) and 5G Home Internet.

I have been tracking my plan price before and after the price increase and after adding the free line. I noticed that it showed a $45 increase(9 lines) and now $50 (with 10 lines). This makes me think that perhaps all of the free lines won't be free after all; they would be $5 each. In other words, the free line $30 discount would remain the same, while the line cost would become $35.

Read the class action lawsuit PDF document in this link related to what's going on right now; the text screenshots in the lawsuit are nearly identical: https://www.lawinc.com/locked-in-...gal-battle

More people need to be talking about this! I got this too. Posted it here.

With this deal, after the increase, I've got T-Mobile One plan with 8 lines and will be paying $150 plus $8.50 for Netflix.
The way it breaks down is my original 4 lines from 2017 cost $45 each after the increase and after autopay discount. 3 of those lines get $10 kick back discount each for lower data usage. 3 lines were from previous 'get a line on us' deals which was confirmed to not be subject to the $5 increase. 1 of the lines is brand new with the BYOD free line I just took advantage of today.

I can't fault T-Mobile, good service, great international coverage when I travel (free data and texting).

There's a free BYOD line?

It is per line if you got this. I yelled at them that i have 10 lines all paid for lines and been with them for 25.2 years. Back when it was sprint i was told as long as i stay on this plan and do not change it will not go up. They told me i am not on price lock plan. But they got a memo i am sure not to make any deals. I called 2 times and dmed them on X and every rep was ready to put in to cancel my service. They said how much they give like free hulu which i said i do not need but in the end when i said i will check other places they said do you want me to put in to cancel.

It is per line not per account and yes they want to get rid of the older plans and this is why they targeted them

Someone asked earlier if the increase applies to free lines and I was wondering as well since i have a few paid lines I could cancel and switch to the free lines without too much trouble with having to use a new number. So I went to my most recent bill to see which lines were free and discovered the bill no longer shows that, even the detailed billl. It now just shows the total fee for all lines.

Since the new billing doesn't break out which lines were free this got me thinking the $5/line increase applies to all lines. I just called customer service and sure enough, that seems to be the case.

Would it make sense switching to essential plan 4 lines for $100? the only issue I see this plan do not offer international data. Text only

Not a deal but PSA a lot of people online are reporting T-Mobile is raising rates by $5. I know all of us got in on the free lines and plans, can anyone chime in their experience or making sure the rate doesn't raise? I haven't gotten it yet but my friend had an email already.

How convenient this increase happens mere weeks after they enticed lots of fools on legacy plans, myself included, into the 24 month monthly trade-in credits.
I totally thought the same thing. No coincidence that they had not offered legacy plans any sort of deals like that in 2+ years!

Yes. See the huge rdit thread in their /tmo..
Many jumping to Visible, us mobile, etc despite potentially lower prioritization.
Sad is even ATT thru US Mobile has better offerings cheaper.
