Just received a text from T-Mobile that reads:

T-Mobile: For the first time in nearly a decade, we're making an update to the price of some of our older monthly service plans. Starting on 4/2/2025, your phone plan will increase by $5 per line per month. You'll keep all the benefits you currently enjoy, and your rate plan type and bill due date remain the same. For more information, visit...

Which lands at a page with the following:

At T-Mobile, you pay less and get more.
While some of our competitors have announced multiple price increases – 10 in two years between AT&T and Verizon – for the first time in nearly a decade, T-Mobile is making small adjustments to prices on some of our older monthly service plans.
Our commitment to delivering the best value isn't changing and never will. Even with these updates, T-Mobile customers still save an average of 20% compared to AT&T and Verizon on comparable wireless and streaming services—while continuing to enjoy America's leading 5G network and award-winning customer experience.
Thanks for being with us.

FYI I've been on Magenta for years. I currently pay $240/month for 10 lines (including some free lines) and 5G Home Internet.

I have been tracking my plan price before and after the price increase and after adding the free line. I noticed that it showed a $45 increase(9 lines) and now $50 (with 10 lines). This makes me think that perhaps all of the free lines won't be free after all; they would be $5 each. In other words, the free line $30 discount would remain the same, while the line cost would become $35.

The other issue is that because T-Mobile is hacked all the time, I had set up money transfer to an account that if hacked, had little money ... just enough to pay T-Mobile since it was lifetime guarantee. Now I need to change everything with my two banks just to cover the increase. Also it sometimes take time for setting up and trying the changes. So now I need to drive to add money to the account in addition to making the changes. It would have been much much easier if it was still on a credit card.

I would not get their 5G wifi that has a price guarantee also as you can see a guarantee does not mean anything,

The consumer protection agency has been gutted ... so our protection may not be there. So that might be why they did it now.

Also I would expect that net neutrality might be the next things to go away so we can pay for usage. With the gas tax revenue going down due to electric cars in CA, the state is testing using a meter to record your milage and get revenue that way. So everyone wants their "fair" share. The city were I live, they just negotiated with PG&E to get the contract they would need to pay for 5 city workers ... not related to utilities. So through our electric costs, we get to automatically pay for 5 workers. I am not complaining about the 5 workers, but the strong arming that is occurring in order to get revenue and secretly passing it to consumers.

T-Mobile is not the first and won't be the last.

I pay 130 for 12 lines now. About to be 160. I might have to get rid of some of the lines that aren't free. I need to call them because they guaranteed the price would never go up.
Be careful. From what I remember free line promo goes away if you cancel paid lines.

Glad I changed to US mobile when they shifted to "no autopay discount for you if you pay with credit cards". I knew it would only go down from there.

One plus with 3 paid and 5 free line paying $110 per month. Would gladly take $15 up charge.

You're a fool then. Because you had a pricelock promise that T-mobile changed. Part of the updated terms when they changed the terms state if you make a payment you agree to the new terms... That's criminal. This POS company is beyond evil and flatout liars.

Only the first year. After that all free lines stay if you maintain a minimum of 2 paid lines.

Last year year when they raised $5/line on my 55+ plan i switched to visible $15/line promo for 5 years price locked and that was the best decision ever, bill went down from $70 something to flat $30 for two lines.

I just got off the phone with them and the rep I spoke to assured me that I wouldn't be affected by the price increase. He said only grandfathered plans opened after Jan 2017 will have the price increase. He said the document is well over 100 pages and he had to search it to find that info. Idk if he's right or not but he gave me his name and employee number and said he is 100% positive and guaranteed that I won't be charged a penny more than what I currently pay. I guess we'll just have to wait and see if I just wasted an hour of my life and if he was full of sht or not...

They lied to you, I have been with them for over 10 years and got the text

This happened to me on One Plus but it happened like 6 or 8 months ago, went from $100 for two lines to $110. Why did I get the increase so early?!

Please guide me to a service where I get 8 lines with everything unlimited for $125 which actually work in most areas. Since you are so smart , do enlighten us with your knowledge.
