FYI, this looks pretty solid overall, but be aware that it does NOT have WiFi

I haven't played with this model, but other models are solid - great for emulation.

Worth checking out the /r/powkiddy sub as a good starting point https://www.reddit.com/r/PowKiddy/s/kX4oI3Nsx7

Neat, but the ship has sailed for me.

The problem I have with these emu handhelds, is it's 25 years too late for me. I loved 80's arcade games and early NES/SNES/Genesis etc stuff... 25 years ago. I had a PS Vita with an emu load and it was cool.... but....

Nostalgia is a crazy thing. We think we want this to play old games, but now that we're old, they don't stick the landing. And the current gen of people looking at these things don't give a crap about 25+ year old games.

If you're having the nostalgia bug, try a bootable USB with Batocera installed.

Up to N64/ some Dreamcast/some PSP (includes GBA/DS). It's recommended to source your own. Not sure what Linux OS is made for this since it's relatively new, but Android-based GammaOS Core is available.

Nah, I still fire up some old games. A good game doesn't need high end graphics, and I still fire up some super Mario 3 and punch out. Plus finding old games that were great but never played is fun. Dreamcast and PSP are mainly what I play now, but also a bit of OG PlayStation. Like someone else mentioned Batocera is great. Throw it on a drive, and fill it with games. You can then plug it into any computer, and hours of fun can be had.

Agree, I bought one similar thinking my kids or I would go down nostalgia "memory" lane. It lasted all of about 30 min total. No one wants to play relic games anymore. If I could hook up an old N64 on the TV, I could probably get them to sit down for some Diddy Kong racing or Mario Party.

Cool rant. Not much to do with the deal though.

Couldn't agree more. I bought a similar handheld device last year to play these retro games that I used to play in the 90s or early 2000s. Only played on this device for maybe an hour or so. The fire isn't there anymore. Not saying they are bad games. I just don't get time and if I have time, I would rather spend it on doing something efficient. Current generation doesn't give a damn about these 25-30 years old games. I have a feeling that these devices will go out of fashion in the next 5 to 10 years because our generation will be too old to have time to play these retro games and current generation will not have any interest in playing them.

Lotta downers in this thread, but these little emulator machines are awesome. I don't have this specific one, but they are very pocketable, can hold basically every game up through ps1, and they are great for things like waiting rooms and catching up with past favorites anywhere at anytime. I love these things and they are super popular.

East to execute for sure, and really cheap. But kinda thinking these old games are more appropriate for mobile gaming at this point, when you are traveling. Games designed for a simple interface with simple controls. Graphics really don't hold up on big high res screens, in 2025. They still look great on a tiny screen though.
