Can this actually be used like a "lap"top? Or is it like an iPad situation?

Had this. Returned it. Can't be used as a laptop . Good performance and Good price tho. The build seems a bit outdated . Kind of bulky and not best bezel around the screen

There's a kickstand to support the tablet. So you can use on lap if your legs are long I guess. Doesn't seem worth it.

Looks like it's based on the design of the Surface Pro line, which can totally be used on a lap. Some people don't like it, but tons of people do and use them as laptops. I actually prefer the Surface Pro form factor on my lap to a regular laptop, I hate the heat from regular laptops being on my lap.

Warning: Snapdragon + Windows. If you don't know what this means, then don't buy.

I own this model, purchased about a month ago with the same deal. I've used it on my lap in a pinch but it's not great for that. The tablet part requires the kickstand to keep from flopping over. It works much better if you have a table in front of you to place it on.

Awesome deal. This would be a great 2nd portable option. I would get it for basic productivity and for streaming games on Moonlight. Not sure if I can live with the 60hz tho. Every main device I use is at least 120hz now.

Just FYI, it was mentioned in another thread and confirmed by another user that Asus no longer honors the warranty of open box items purchased from Best Buy for a full year, you only get 3 months of coverage. Price your open box purchases accordingly with that new info.

Definitely read the reviews. The star count doesn't really mean anything anymore. People not happy with the quality, also saying that the CPU and GPU are made for budget machines, so really we're looking at an anchored price. They make it seem like a "deal" when in reality this should have been the MSRP to begin with.

So far, the two Asus Q423 laptops I bought from BB (open box excellent and open box good) both registered with not full warranties, but with 11 month and 10 month warranties.

Personally, since I'm a Total member, I have 2 year warranties on them from BB, but ASUS doesn't seem to complain about it when I register with them.

Users in the Asus 16" 4070 thread confirmed it today along with a reddit thread confirming it per Asus support.. Do your own due diligence but it looks to be legit.

Just mentioned what I seen and people been posting, confirm it with your best buys but it might just be remainder of warranty or minimum 3 months. I guess when time comes and Asus asks for the receipt you will know for sure. People already been having problems with Asus warranty so this is not surprising to me if they did go this route. They have taken a lot of heat for their warranty support in the last year. Still one of my favorite brands but still better to know what you are buying instead of being surprised later cause you didnt ask.

I'm going to push back on this a bit. Yes, the Snapdragon X Plus is the "budget" option, but it's a perfectly fine chip in terms of performance and has great power efficiency. The main problem is that it is an ARM chip and a lot of software that runs natively on your typical Windows machine are emulated here, meaning performance suffers. For example, Discord desktop app is emulated and can be sluggish as a result. For anyone looking at purchasing this machine I'd highly recommend looking up ARM support/performance for any software that you regularly use. Like if your use case is video editing, you probably don't want this device.
I have this machine and I think it's a good buy for the price with the huge caveat that it has to fit your use cases and you need to understand the downsides.

I think it matters, too, if the previous owner already registered it with ASUS. If that's the case, you may be completely out of luck.
