Ordered one thanks. Don't need another receiver but hard to pass up for that price. This has the X processor, so it's supposed to be better than the S processor. I learned the hard way buying an S570BT open box but too late to return. It's the biggest piece of junk Denon has made. Stick with the X series

You won't be disappointed. This is a great receiver at 300. I purchased new at 800 some years back and have zero complaints.

very good deal. I bought my new receiver 2 months ago and ended up getting the integra drx 3.4 for $580. This x1700 was $400 at the time and it was a tough decision between the two. If i could have gotten the x1700 for $300 it would have been an easy decision to buy it.

This is the same price as black friday. Awesome receiver for the price. No issues whatsoever since I purchased one then.

Are these compatible with any type of in-ceiling speakers? I've been looking to get a receiver and some decent in-ceiling speakers (5 pre-wired from construction) for years, but the variety of brands and specs have been overwhelming.

As a first time buyer of receiver, I'm just wondering How does it compare with Yamaha RX-V385BL? Even though, Yamaha model is 5.1 but it provides 145w per channel as compared to this denon model that provides 80w per channel. Doesn't it mean we can connect more powerful speaker/soundbar/subwoofer and get better sound output with Yamaha as compared to this denon model?

You should be fine using this for in-ceiling speakers. The benefit of an all-in one receiver /amp is simplicity. This one has internet connectivity also, which makes streaming from music apps a breeze.

I bought this a few months ago and have been happy with it. After going down the audiophile rabbit hole of revivers, amps, pre-amps, I was happy to just have it all consolidated into one piece of equipment. I'm powering Klipsch WB-14s in cherry wood. The receive doesn't have the same "punch" as my old pioneer did (80 watts vs 120 watts) but my old pioneer was also effectively a fire hazard because it ran so hot and there was no embedded internet connectivity.

Now if you want to be 100% certain this will do your in-ceiling speakers justice, you would have to grab the name /model of those speakers and make sure that the ohms and wattage output is sufficient. That said, I'm 99% sure this will work and you'll be satisfied.

Make sure you're comparing the same resistance levels to wattage output. The Yamaha markets wattage at 6 ohms, whereas the Denon markets wattage at 8 ohms. Equivalent wattage at 6 ohms for Denon is 120w.

Yamaha RX-V385BL = 145w @ 6 ohms

Denon = 120w @ 6 ohms (or 80w @ 8 ohms)

Yes they are. I'm no expert, but these should drive most home audio speakers. If the output is 100 watts,get at least 100 watts speakers. 100 watts divided by 2 channels equals 50 watts a channel. You will never damage the speakers by turning up the volume. I run 400 watt speakers off my 100 watt amp.
