In real-world applications this is just as strong as the old dcf899 high torque and feels like a third of the weight.

This thing is a beast. Great for suspension work. Pair it with an induction coil heater, and midwest rust welds don't stand a chance. It's heavy though, and sometimes unwieldly while laying under a car on jack stands while on the floor.

Is this overkill for auto lugs and occasional sub compact tractor/implement work if I turn the torque down? Or would the DCF 921 be better? I already have batteries

I feel like if you're going to own an impact wrench, this is the one to get. Not the smaller low torque ones or the high torque ones.

I just wish this was at home depot instead.

Overkill for auto lugs but good for the tractor. I'd rather have this since you might need the extra torque when removing water heater rods or rusted bolts.
