Needed a new motherboard for a new build. Was considering the TUF in the same class but decided to go with this instead. $50 cheaper than the TUF I think makes this a good deal.

I don't think AM4 makes sense for a new build, as AM5 prices aren't that high and you actually have an upgrade path with the newer platform. I'll keep using my AM4 build for a while (eventually I'll grab a used X3D processor for a final upgrade) but if I was going to build from scratch, there's no chance I'd buy this mobo unless someone had given me a free CPU and RAM they had moved on from.

ln Dec/Jan you were able to get a 5700x3d for $140 from ali. if you had DDR4 laying around it'd be hard to beat an $80 AM4 mobo + a $140 5700x3d. everyone is in a different position, but i think i'd agree that if you're 1440p+ gaming and don't need to push the highest frame rates for competitive shooters then AM5 might make more sense. i also don't think AM4 is a terrible option.

That's mostly true. But I want to upgrade an i7-7700 and i3-6100 and already have the DDR4 and cases, plus three desktops running AM4 processors.

But it still only makes sense if I can go notably cheaper than the cheapest AM5 option AND if $200 is an issue for me monetarily. Those bundles start around $330, $450 if I want a motherboard that supports PCIe 5. I think I can get an AM4 CPU and motherboard for under $130, so it's at least $200 cheaper, or only about 40% of the price... Very situational, I'll admit.

I have this Mobo, good board! As a heads up though, this board does not have the ez flash bios button, if that matters. The other con may be the limited RGB headers.

It's worked very well with an overclocked 5600X, and seems to be very stable with whatever you throw at it, I'd call it a good deal if AM4 is still your thing.

My Asus prime B550-PLUS AC-HES crapped out two days ago. It had been suffering form various USB intermittent failures. Had the latest BIOS update. 5700X CPU also died. Power supply was a Corsair and tested good.

I wish I had bought a 5700X3D then, but I didn't, and the prices are stupid now. Obviously if I had a new AM4 processor and no mobo, that would make this worth considering.

I bought it 3 week ago for my old rebuild on my leftover PC parts for my wife to do office/school work. I end up returning it 2x for this motherboard. First one powered up but back panel won't connect the displays. 2nd board seems didn't even power the fans or CPU. Both boards gave black screens.

I end up buying the Newegg deal MSI PRO B550M PRO-VDH WIFI AM4 AMD B550 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard

Total came out to $96.96 after instant $20 rebate and taxes.

Maybe I got a decent one by luck? By any chance did you do any overclocking? I know that is one thing I didn't bother to do too extreme, only a bit. I'm unsure if it affects stability outside of the CPU itself..

Just use the x470. No need to upgrade to b550. I have a b550 tomahawk I haven't even unboxed yet bc im too lazy to swap components😅. I'm still on the b450 pro carbon max
