I bought this game on a whim years ago when buying my switch. I had never played a Xenoblade Chronicles game before.
I played it right when my first born (a son) was born. I got super attached to Rex as a new father, and my heart absolutely broke for him when he went through those challenging moments towards the end of the game. Was also surprised (in a good way) with the twists the game throws. I loved Rex and the whole cast and the story.
I put 250 hours into that game and it vaulted into one of my favorite games of all time. The game made me buy XC1 DE (enjoyed the story, not the combat system) and XC3 (arguably the best game in terms of story and combat and another favorite game of all time for me), but nothing will compare to the emotional attachment I have with XC2 due to the unique experience I have with Rex and new fatherhood.
Happy to see others that can look past the bad rap this game got and enjoy it. I can't wait till my son is older and he can play it so I can experience it all over again with him.

My understanding is that the parent company of Monolithsoft's parent company was Bandi Namco and then Nintendo... Not aware of them being acquired by Microsoft...
2 - Best in the series. Literally cried. Best character arcs and development.
3 - Solid, but play 1, 2 and their respective DLCs first before playing to appreciate all of the callbacks.
1 - Great entry, blew me away on the Wii! Great storytelling.
X - Playing through this now (`30ish hours in), not as wowed as I was with the numbered entries, YET. I can't give it a proper review without finishing it.
