I usually double up for indoor ranges in any case. A cheap pair of the foam plugs work well under something like this.
Yeah, agreed. Properly placed foam earplugs *and* over the head earmuffs are a good idea at the range. I remember going to an outdoor range near me years ago, and the dude next to me pulls out a revolver. It was a short/snub nosed revolver. Never stood next to somebody shooting a .357 snubby, but it was so loud that I could feel the sound waves in my teeth. I decocked/safetied my handgun and stepped about 2 feet back until the other guy finished. I could only imagine if you had to use a .357 mag snubby for home defense... you'd definitely kill any intruders, but you'd also be watching things in closed caption for the rest of your life...

It says NRR 23db which is about average for hearing protection. I'm going to try it out.

Great deal. $14.79 at Walmart, but the NRR doesn't appear anywhere on Amazon. Walmart has NRR as 23 - 25 dB. I'd probably wear something better for the gun range (guy next to you with an AR15 or snub nosed 357 - these aren't it chief). These would be great for other things, tho, like woodworking and lawn mowing and other loud power equipment use.

Yes, the mic allows you to better hear range commands. Only being 23nrr though, I'd suggest wearing an extra pair of ear plugs underneath, especially if your indoors or under cover. Just crank the volume up and you get the best of both worlds.

I understand that. I was beside a guy with a .500 Magnum S&W, and my teeth chattered every time he made a shot! Talk about distracting.

These are good for the gun range. Whether inside or outside, I use foamies underneath and then jack up the volume on these.

This set is NOT great for hunting use since it's single mic, and mono.

I prefer Howard Leights for hunting because they're stereo mics. Also don't use foamies under when hunting.

Get a decent pair of muffs, then you won't need foamies. 25db minimum.

.357 is an old school boomer fudd round for home defense. Millennials like me use a 300BLK. First ten in the mag 220 grain open tip subsonic sounds like a stapler when shot thru a can. If that doesn't take care of it, 125 grain black tip supersonics to wrap up the party.

Old school boomers call that 300BLK a bear tickler. If millennials ever went outdoors, they'd need a 44 mag minimum for brown bears. A 14 inch pump shotgun is generally best for home defense, unless you hate your neighbors.

Uhh.. dude was talking about home defense.. not brown bears lol? You know, indoors under 25 yards, against human predators. I too would pick a short AR running suppressed subsonic 300 blacks cause I love the idea of hanging onto my hearing. Low recoil, no flash, sounds like a stapler, bad guys drop or run... what's not to like?

Pretty sure I mentioned a shotgun for the best home defense. No need to be proficient in case your unfamiliar family members are home alone during a home invasion.

Most gun owners are not collectors and only have 2-3 guns. A hunting rifle, a shotgun, and a handgun would be the most common assortment.

I guess depending on where you live and if you ever go outdoors matters most, not what generation you belong to.

In Chicago, sure, a high magazine low powered handgun might be your best only handgun. But can you even own a gun in Chicago?

In Alaska, you definitely have no use for such a handgun. You also don't want to be shooting your neighbors, or other family members through the walls when disoriented during a home invasion.

On a side note, I can't even hear what you said. I never wear ear protection, and it's never effected me. /s
