RAM Is 8GB Soldered, not upgradable!
Currently typing this comment on the 14x that was on sale for the same $300 with the same 8gb ram and it's pretty solid. At first I was a little on the fence over the 8gb but I can do everything I want including run multiple chrome tabs, currently 6 open tabs and steam, xbox and epic games running on the background and while I am seating at 90% memory usage, I don't experience any crash or slow downs, so it's safe to say that for day to day use, 8gb is enough even if it freaks you out seeing 90% memory usage and this is all running on a much higher resolution screen at 1800p.
I have an older version of this laptop. It also has 8gb of ram. Idk why people get so bent out of shape over 8gb.

Yes, future proofing is out of the window.

But that being said it's a fantastic laptop. Good keyboard. Amazing screen. Good io. Fast CPU. For $300 you usually get some low end laptop with a bad screen, but you can upgrade to 16gb.

For the average person, this will feel like a much higher end laptop and feel like they got their money's worth for sure.

Very highly rated machine. Open box excellent for $315 an outstanding deal.

At this price range you're normally dealing with 250 nit screens of questionable quality but you've got a 500 nit OLED here. The CPU is no slouch either and iGPU can handle low end modern gaming (not saying it's a great idea, but it can). The RAM situation is a bummer though.

I have to agree, $300 usually gets one bottom of the barrell entry level stuff. The Dell 3520 is $250 and doesn't even have a usb-C port whereas this has 2 thunderbolt 4.0 USB c ports.

Alot of other OLED laptops with a good amount of bells & whistles are double this price.

If it had 16GB RAM, it would be perfect. Unfortunately Windows will use most of that RAM, so she wouldn't be able to have a lot of programs open (browser, Word, etc.).

Depends.. college often requires bigger programs which will need 16gb min.
.if it just for documents and light web browsing...go for it!

She'll be business major not needing crazy applications for engineering or something more intensive. I think? This would suffice? The next question is should I wait for potential better deals since I have 4-5 mos

Dang! Good deal. I jumped on the s14 a few weeks ago for $450. It was great but I wish it had the touch screen! This is a good buy if 8gb is good enough for you!
