Oh yes they are.

Non-inverters are on and off machines. They always draw the maximum current. Either they are on or off. Every time the compressor turns on, it also affects other appliances because they have to use huge current to kick start the compressor. They maintain the desired temperature by turning off and on. No way to tell the compressor to just run at 25% to maintain desired temperature.

On the other hand, the inverter compressor versions is adjustable. It can draw as low as 100w just to maintain the desired temperature setting. I have this AC but with heater and by average, it draws 200-400w blowing just the right amount of cold air. If it's too hot, or you put it to maximum compressor speed and full fan speed, it can draw up to 1300w.
Yes I bought it and the sound noise is great. Sounds just like a fan. Night and day compared to my standard single hose condenser unit

As stated in the OP, this is a dual hose unit. Single hose units are basically a scam, you'll understand that quickly if you pay attention to thermodynamics in class.

The one thing that would make this even better is if it also had heat - a HiSense unit that I own has it, and it makes it also useful over the winter. Sure, price would be higher and maybe Floridians would not need it. The rest of us would.

I agree. I really did want one with a heat function, but couldn't find one near this price.

Does anyone know how the noise level is? I have a Honeywell 14,000BTU dual hose AC and it's slightly defective due to the hoses. Am wondering if this would help cool an 890sq ft. apartment?

Does it come with a window kit for horizontal sliding windows? I'm looking at customer pictures on the Amazon page for this model (sold out) and it shows someone using it with horizontal sliding windows. But unsure if they are talking about the same model (heat).

This is the page: https://www.amazon.com/Midea-Effi...YD47T?th=1

And it's easy to fall asleep with it on in the same room?

Easy to fall asleep with. Also has vertical option. Only downside is no heat, but you have to pay over $400 extra for that option same model. Plus it's just starting to get warm so I'm not worried about heat for like 8 months

There is an installation video on this Amazon page: https://www.amazon.com/Midea-Effi...B0DDBYD47T
It appears to be the same model. However, some of the reviews mention "heat" and this unit does not have heat. This leads me to believe Madea or whoever repurposed this Amazon page from an older model to this one.
That said, the installation video clearly shows it comes with a horizontal sliding window adapter. My concern is that the video is for another (similar) unit since the color is black.
And I cannot find this model anywhere else online...so if it does not come with a sliding window adapter highly doubtful we'll be able to find one online.

I run electric heaters 24/7 in my 2 bedroom apartment all 9 months of winter here in Idaho. Electricity bill barely tops $100 due to our city having their own electric power plant on the Snake River. I think we're one of the lowest electrical rates in the nation.

I work from home so I run an electrical heater all hear in our basement. Works fine. For the top floor, we just don't really need the extra heat. If you just want AC or fresh air you can't beat the price on this unit
