The bad: From target.com description:
"Convenient ScanSmart TSA lay-flat design helps speed through airport security by allowing laptop-in-case scanning through TSA X-ray machines"
I have literally never been to a U.S. airport where security knew/planned/cared wtf the nuances of rules are with regard to nationwide TSA stuff. Any time I go through, and the rules are different every time, they say that the airport gets to decide. In other words, I would be shocked-shocked-shocked if anyone, ever, is allowed to use this particular backpack or backpack design in lieu of taking the laptop fully out of its carrying case. (That is, in any instance where such a backpack is allowed through, I would expect it is done so because either on that airport/day laptops were not required to be removed, or that the person did not inform security that there was a laptop in it beforehand, and they didn't bother stopping them at the scan. Of course, I have never tried doing this with my own Swissgear laptop backpack -- passing it through without informing security -- because I'm not a farking moron.)
