Looks like the laptop 5080 is somewhere between a laptop 4090 and laptop 5090.

that's some 'paid to say nice things about it online' kind of stretch

Considering this literally has everything else you could ask for in a new gen gaming laptop for $2699, plastic built which isn't even poor is a small compromise in comparison that's completely acceptable.
If Microcenter or gigabyte was paying laymen like me, I'd have started my own deals website. Please, use some sense.

I'm not saying you're paid, in fact I thank you for all that you post. It's because of your posts that I got a crazy deal on an open box G16 Zephyrus 4060 last year.
But with all due respect, I don't know that the "if I was being paid, I'd have my own site" is really much of a proof point at all, as SD is by far the deal source, and anyone paying wouldn't want their $ going to rando site X over the marketing power SD has.

This is just an upsale that got it's price corrected
After seeing this deal, I wanted to see any and all laptops with an OLED screen, gaming or not, and there's not option to sort by screen type. Resolution? Sure. Refresh rate? Yup. But not the panel type.
On Walmart's website, I can understand. But Microcenter and Best Buy have folks a tad bit more knowledgeable and they should allow filtering by the panel type.
All right, I took a quick drive to store to see the difference. The 2699 one, has a raid zero configuration, so 1TB x 2.
The 2499 one, has a single drive 1TB.
I must've missed that on the website. But that solves the mystery.

This may be a great price if you want a new laptop and don't want a 40 series. We appreciate your posts but just post the deal their is zero need to defend the manufacturer. Gigabyte is known for middling just OK laptops nothing special at all. I would wait for a Lenovo deal or a Razer deal over any Gigabyte deal.
