This should be sub $100. No screen, no removable battery. In short, e-waste.
I have one of these and it's pretty unreliable. Been using it since release. It overheats pretty bad here in Florida if you aren't using it on a helmet or somewhere that has lots of airflow. Video quality is good though, but I normally opt to use this as a backup or b-shot cam because I can't exactly trust it.
No preview display.
Simple text/mode info display but no image/video.
Cool for some uses, but limiting for others

Great deal!
I'm super tempted, the only problem is that it doesn't have bluetooth mic support. You can update the firmware to support the pro 3.5mm adapter but that's another $50

If you want a display you should definitely get the full size Hero11/12/13. Plus the 12 has bluetooth mic support.
This is designed to be lighter and overheat less, it's been the go-to for people to put on helmets. You also have the option of using the gopro app to check your framing

I've found this to be true with most of the recent versions of GoPro. They either overheat, or the battery life is terrible. I recently switched to DJI for my helmet cam, and the battery lasts for a week of 30 min round trip commutes (with similar recording settings as GoPro), where my GoPro 10 would need to be charged at least every other day.

Yup, i use an action 4 for most of my action cam needs. I use this as more of a danger cam, like suction cupped to the side of the car kind of stuff.

I've decided I want to get a GoPro or other action cam for making photography videos. I'd like the GoPro strapped to my upper chest for 4K POV shots of my taking nature/landscape photos with another camera. Aside from being able to change settings easier, I don't think having a display would benefit me much

Being able to change the battery would be helpful of course but should be fine if I just turn it on occasionally when really needed.

Spent awhile trying to research this model and hard to tell how just how unreliable it is compared to other models. Sounds bad enough to scare me off, particularly when combined with only a 90 day warranty, but I can't tell if most users have been able to use this model fine long term and it's just a vocal minority that have had issues (often issues with multiple units though).

edit: Seems like maybe it would be worth paying a lot more for the 13 with optional macro lens for my use case.

"the downside is that if the battery dies you cannot change it and have to replace the entire camera"

If you are looking for cheaper but good quality action cam, check out Akaso Brave 8 Lite or SJCam SJ20 Dual Lens.

Do GoPros really suck as people say, the overheating and failures, causing to lose footage?
Can get a used action 4 or 3 for this price

I have the hero 11 and it is a terrible action camera as of today's tech. It required a lot of light otherwise, footages were unusable.
I would go for other brands like DJI or Insta360, may be second hand if budget is limited.
