3M USA Made is the best, however I've noticed the generic electrical tape made in Taiwan has been (generally) significantly better than the Made in China electrical tape (I've owned all 3). Maybe others have had the same experience…

How long does it take for this tape to melt the glue and turn into a gluey mess?

I've never paid more than $1.50 for this kind of generic tape. Did 300% tariffs go in effect?

I will stick to the 3M super 33+ electrical tape. It's been very reliable for me… but $0.50 is $0.50…

The regular price, which I'm assuming you're referring to, is nonsense, just like it is for most products. MSRP doesn't mean much anymore, and hasn't for quite a while.

some things just aren't worth skimping on...
buy quality electrical tape.
better glue, better material, better stretch... it's worth it.

I bought some of this last year and it was better than I expected for cheap electrical tape, it actually seemed similar to super 33 like I normally use. I like having cheap stuff like this on hand for when it feels wasteful to use my 33 or 88. My local Walmart actually had those on clearance recently too (Walmart app says 33 for $3 52ft, 88 $4.50 62ft)

Growing up, we used these tape for pucks in street hockey.
On asphalt, they slide remarkably well. Just in case you want to buy some for something other than taping pipes or something.

I've had terrible luck with anything other then 3M Super 33 or 88 eletrical tape and refuse to use anything but it now. Other tape tends to either become a gooey mess or very brittle over time.

I'm still using the same roll of electrical tape that I got in 1996.
