IMO, it's definitely better than IX, which didn't really do it for me either, but it's no VIII. The whole mystery of what's going on with the island in VIII just plays out so incredibly well, whereas X has a tendency to give away a lot right away.

Combat in X is just as solid as VIII and IX, so $40 isn't too unreasonable, but IMO probably better to wait for $20.

Ys8 was my first and it doesn't compare. Y8s was like xenoblade chronicles x and ys 10 was like assassins creed Valhalla.

I played on the PS5, so can't say for sure, but my guess would be no. It might be a little better in the way they broke up the game into a bunch of smaller maps, except for the parts where you're sailing around on a ship, but ultimately the Switch's hardware is what it is.
