Note that when they say 3/4", they really mean 3/4" is the upper limit on this low-powered unit. If you just have small holes to drill you'll be fine but this (well, the previous model) is fairly easy to stall out on larger bits and will burn up the motor in pretty short order.

For simple homeowner stuff like wall tie-backs and masonry screw predrilling this thing is great, just don't expect it to start punching holes in concrete for 6ga+ cables or anything more than 1/2" plumbing.

I think its a pretty sweet deal. The 2 4ah 18v Core batteries alone are worth almost $100, so for 99 I imagine this drill will pay for itself rather quickly.

Thanks OP for finding,, I bought it this morning, my store only had the batteries so I have to wait to get the actual drill until Thur. If I had seen/known that I would of just chose the delivery option, but no hurries.

Can this be use to pound a ground rod to the ground?

You can put an SDS plus bit in this for ground rods, and it does have hammer mode, but I'd want something bigger for ground rods. It might get the job done if you have soft dirt, but where I live the dirt is crazy hard, and my 1 1/4" Milwaukee struggles. I have the old version of this and I wouldn't even try it.

I drill up to 5" cores in block several times a month in block with a dewalt sds-plus

Also drive ground rods with the same rotary hammer into softer soils

If the ground is really hard you can use a masonry bit first or put the rod in at 45 degrees

Bosch GBH2-28L (Corded) for $127 is much better if you're doing tougher projects. Don't really care for the batteries in the above deal because the majority of my tools aren't Bosch.
